Nobody Hugged the Mother

🌸Everyone hugged the baby,
Nobody hugged the mother.

She was awake with dreadful pain
With her uterus was about to burst.
She would have her heart in her mouth
When a new heart tried to jump out.

Everyone hugged the baby,
Nobody hugged the mother.

Her breasts were sore and red.
Her painful scars gave away.
Sticky blood ran over her thighs.
Her bloated tummy started to lose its shape.

Everyone hugged the baby,
Nobody hugged the mother.

She had sleepless nights,
Bothered by the smell of her own milk
And the constant ache in her back,
She started to lose her glow and her hair.

Everyone hugged the baby,
Nobody hugged the mother.

She couldn’t enjoy her date nights then,
With the constant thought of tiffins and schoolbags in her head.
She tried to be a wife in bed.
But realised she had changed to a mother then.

Everyone hugged the baby,
Nobody hugged the mother.

She would struggle and pant for breath,
And forget to think for herself.
She would think of her childhood wish,
But she couldn’t close her eyes and dream.

Everyone hugged the baby,
Nobody hugged the mother.

Mother was now fragile and frail.
She muttered for her ‘freedom’ and kept quiet.
Her child didn’t need her anymore.
He was a rising Sun then.

But when the world went against her baby,
Only Mother hugged the baby.🌸
