Leadership Is Influence

Mastering the art of influence is a key leadership component. Whenever we are stuck in a problem, the only thing comes to our mind is to blame everyone or everything around. So the solution to this should be sail in the right direction to reach your goal as you can’t change the bad wind direction. One of the most successful ways to lead others is from a strong set of values.

Creating a shared sense of values may not be that challenging as much as it would appear. For the beginners, it is like gather your team and start-off the conversation, and look where the discussion goes after providing them with the value list. Leadership has nothing to do with seniority, management or one’s position in the hierarchy of a company, it isn’t management. Leadership is all about solving problems; it is about taking responsibility, not making excuses. The difference between management and leadership is that leadership is about influencing people to follow, activate your fans, don’t just collect them like baseball cards. Management is all about focusing on the maintenance of systems and processes. The best way to test if a person can lead rather than just manage is to ask for creating positive change. IQ doesn’t necessarily equate to leadership. Leadership is not about making speeches or being liked; leadership is defined by results and not attributes.

Being a good leader is a balancing act. Your leadership qualities should never rely on the type of management. If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader. Smart leaders are aware of what they don’t know, so they learn as it is a constant process throughout your professional life. Leadership and learning are requisite to each other. Outstanding leaders go out of their way to boost the self-esteem of their personnel. If you believe in yourself, then it’s amazing that’s what you can accomplish. A leader see’s the opportunities in every difficulty rather than the difficulty in every opportunity.

Leadership is a combination of strategy and character.
